Upgrade Your Hard Drive

These days modern computers are so fast they need super fast hard drives to keep up. If you are still running on an old hard drive, you could be missing out.

Solid State Drives are over 10x Faster than traditional drives.

Hard Drive Upgrade

Hard drives typically last anywhere between 3-7 years, and that’s being generous. After 3 years, traditional spindle drives are basically running on borrowed time.

The reason being is that your common hard drive has a platter that spins at a very high speed. It’s much like a record player with a spinning record and needle to read the grooves. A hard drive has a needle like part called a head and it has a few of them, these read the magnetic data stored on the platter. These drives must spin up, spin down, and keep spinning as you take your laptop too and fro. These parts get worn down over time and do not act as they did when they were new.

After time, and filling up space on the drive to the outer circle of the platter, your computer will start to feel slower, and bogged down. This no longer occurs when using an SSD.

There is a new hard drive in town though, the SSD or Solid State Drive. What that means is there are no more moving parts. This benefits you in many ways.

Laptop Benefits:

  • Faster Boot time
  • Faster overall computer speed
  • Lower power consumption
  • Longer Battery Life
  • Less Heat
  • Less Noise
  • More shock resistant

Desktop Benefits:

  • Faster Boot time
  • Faster overall computer speed
  • Lower power consumption
  • Less Heat
  • Less Noise
  • More room in the case
